Cold days in Buenos Aires

September 6, 2009

pt 9 Buenos Aires, Argentina 30th July – 3rd August

Managed three runs in the time I was here, all of varying lengths. Battled off the worst of the illness that struck me down in Cuidad del Este.

Run 1: 40 mins – Straight road run up to a main road and then back to the apartment I was staying. Busy roads. Cold. Felt like Europe. Uneventful.

Run 2: 30 mins – tried something of a slighltly different loop but still fairly the same. Have a hacking cough when I run. Feels like I’m dying. Paranoid at what people will think. Illness strikes back.

Run 3: 54 mins – tried an extra special loop. Bloody awful run. Spent more time speaking Spanish than running. Got very lost.

Running, with company

Pt 7 Salta, Argentina 23rd July

Went for a 55 minute run with Jasmine today, a girl who was doing language classes in Sucre with me, and who I managed to bump into again on the bus from San Pedro!

This was a halfway decent run. 8.15am start, ran for 55 minutes, and had a dog that kept us company for the whole time! Was able to do some very minimal fartlek training with the dog. Basically meaning I would sprint at periods and it would run up and try and jump on me.

I felt like sooo the man running with my four legged friend. That was before we encountered actual vicious dogs. Then realised how rubbish he was...

Decent enough run, the dog provided little protection against other dogs, but companionship at least, as I got close up at the end of the run (again getting a little lost when Jasmine decided we should do a loop!), realised how much it stank.

This was just before we breathed in.

Showered. Quickly.
